The president of the Curacao Boxing Association (CuraBox), Edwin Baas, reports great news.
After an extensive process, CuraBox has obtained membership of World Boxing.
World Boxing (WB) was founded in 2023, after the International Olympic Committee (IOC) permanently withdrew recognition from the International Boxing Association (IBA).
In February 2025, World Boxing obtained recognition from the IOC for Olympic boxing.
National federations must join WB to participate in international tournaments under WB.
Curaçao can now participate in, among others, the Eindhoven Box Cup from May 22 to 25 and the South American Games (Odesur) from September 12 to 26 in Argentina.
Boris van der Vorst was one of the initiators of the organization and the first President of World Boxing. He did not stand for re-election during the congress in November 2025. Legendary world champion Gennadiy Golovkin (Kazakhstan) was elected and now leads the organization towards, among other things, the Olympic Games.
