Boxing legend The Late Edwin “Fighting Mack” Alberto, who passed away in January 2023, was honored and admitted to the Salon di Fama of FDOK on December 15, 2024.
Edwin Nicodemus Alberto (September 1946 – January 2023) born and raised in Bandabou Curacao trained at his uncle The Late Pedro “Shonpe” Hooi († April 30, 2020).
After a successful boxing career in Curacao and in the Caribbean, he left for the Netherlands and boxed from there, worldwide. Fighting Mack had many KO victories on his record and won the European title in 1968. In Italy he knocked out the Italian Carmelo Bossi and became the EBU Welterweight Champion. According to boxrec.com, his record is 28 wins, including 20 victories by KO, 14 losses, and 2 draws.
